EBIO to be presented at 7th Green & Sustainable Chemistry Conference

PhD candidate of EBIO project Talal Ashraf is set to present his work on electro oxidation of acetic acid/sodium acetate at the GREN 2023 7th Green & Sustainable Chemistry Conference in Dresden, Germany, from May 22-24, 2023.

Talal’s presentation will highlight his research on the use of boron-doped diamond (BDD) electrodes with varying doping levels to alter the electrochemical oxidation performance of acetic acid/sodium acetate. His research shows that highly doped BDD electrodes can achieve high faradaic efficiencies, reaching up to 80% towards methanol, while ethane formation was not observed. This work shows that high-doped BDD can enable effective electrooxidation of carboxylic acid and offers valuable insights into the development of sustainable and environmentally friendly chemistry.

EBIOs participation is expected to be a significant contribution to the conference, which aims to promote research on green and sustainable chemistry for a sustainable future.
