Connecting heterogeneous and electrocatalysis: Understanding substrate specificity

In this webinar we will discuss the role of adsorption characteristics of molecules on metal surfaces in determining reaction specificity, both in the reduction of mixtures of butyraldehyde and crotonaldehyde on Cu electrodes, as well as in the oxidation of C2-C6 acids over Pt and BDD electrodes. Similar to heterogeneous catalysis research we will highlight the capabilities of Raman spectroscopy to analysis surface intermediates. Further we will briefly discuss the use of pulsed electrolysis to further manipulate substrate specificity.
